Now the the winter is over on the North Hemisphere I feel warm enough to share some tips of my trip to Iceland last December. It was a great time to be there since it wasn’t freezing cold yet.
5 TIPS FOR YOU UNFORGETTABLE TRIP TO ICELAND
Rent a car – best way to see the island. Be super careful with your speed. Many tourists end up with an extra expensive bill for going too fast. I was informed that radars are infra red so you never really sure where and when you are going to drive by one.
Airbnb – Things can get expensive is Iceland. Especially if you are traveling on a budget. Airbnb is a great option for accommodations for 1/3 of the price of a hotel room you could get your own bedroom and you also get to meet the people and it’s culture. I had a great time talking to my hosts and leaning a lot about Icelands way of life. Sign up for Airbnb http://www.airbnb.com/c/rvieira29
Hotel Heiomork – I tried to stay at a hostel in Reykjavik but the place was noise and ran out of power for many hours so I couldn’t do it, then I decided to leave that night and spend the night someplace else, since there was no Airbnb available I found a good rate at Hotel Heiomork and what a great surprise. Great friendly staff and awesome breakfast.
Visit plane DC- 3. From car parking, on the side of the road, is a 45 min walk to the site and you will feel like a truly explorer in the middle of this visually breathtaking land called Iceland.
Visit Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. I must say that is nothing like most people have experienced before. There is a channel that links the lagoon to the beach and at the beach you will find these very large rocks made of ice. It’s just unbelievable.
