A couple of friends and I went to Puerto Vallarta last week, and looking for some activities nearby we met this guy selling tours, so looking through the brochure we saw the Marieta Islands tour and with no doubt we decided to go on that one. 800 pesos each, about 62 dollars , all included, great. Next day we meet at the location were the taxi was waiting for us, for our surprise the taxi was not included, 100 pesos from Zona Romantica to the port. Ok, not big deal, then we go. Arriving at the port there was a fee to use the port, 20 pesos and not included, then there was another fee to visit the island, 28 pesos also not included. I ask myself what else is not included?

Well, nothing else to pay, because food and drinks were included, the only problem is that took them a long time to feed us, and until then people were buying snacks and drinks on the boat. My advice, even if they promise you its all included take some extra cash with you, and if you don’t want to spend your money buying unhealthy snacks you should bring some snacks with you, because lunch is only served after we leave the island. They do serve us a small plate with fruits on the way to the islands but that is not enough if you are a big eater.

Now lets talk about the good side of the tour, the Island and hidden beach, pretty awesome. Its  for sure an adventure, no boat can actually dock at the beach, so unfortunately a lot of people who were afraid to go in the water did not have a chance to visit the beach. Why? Because you need to swim to the beach, and sometimes if the conditions are not the best, I mean the tie is not low enough, its impossible to get there, and thats because you need to swim under a tunnel that is like a cave under a rock formation, I get very excited just to remember that, it is really an adventure. I saw some people got hurt, so stay away from the rocks and listen to you guide.

Hidden beach is quite unique, and that’s because its formation is originated from explosions and bombings that the Mexican government did early in the 1900’s, while conducting military testing since the island was uninhabited.

I had such a great time swimming in those waters while watching birds and seeing everything so well preserved. So wild and so beautiful. I could see the birds looking at the people wearing their life jackets and swimming, and I would imagine the birds saying, “these people are crazy”
